Robert Heyer, Lead Teacher, Applesong Micro-Elementary School

Robert Heyer grew up in Wyoming, where he was raised by two teachers and coaches who instilled in him a passion for education and leadership. This foundation sparked his interest in understanding human behavior, leading him to study psychology and early childhood development at Boise State University.

After playing professional basketball, Robert’s curiosity about team dynamics and culture led him to pursue coaching roles, working with children of all ages. His experience in sports fueled his deep interest in team building, leadership, and fostering positive environments for growth.

Following his sports career, Robert pursued a career in international education, teaching English in Thailand. His work in diverse cultural settings further intrigued his desire to understand human connection, leadership, and the transformative power of education in global communities.

Robert moved back to Colorado to pursue a new path in animal advocacy as the volunteer coordinator at a local farm animal sanctuary, furthering his commitment to compassion and care. The birth of his daughter reignited his passion for early education, which led him to join Wee Folk, where he began teaching part-time and reconnecting with his educational roots.

Currently, Robert is taking the Enki Foundations course, which will serve as a valuable guide and resource for his future work in education. He is passionate about fostering connection and promoting healthy communities by integrating body, heart, and mind. Robert is excited to step into the dynamic role of lead teacher at the Applesong Micro-Elementary School.
